Human computer interaction (HCI) has mostly relied on visual and acoustic modalities only. Recent research explores how HCI can be improved by mimicking interaction with real physical objects. Therefore, skin based modalities will play an important role in supplementing vision and hearing. Skin based interfaces constitute a very promising development for interaction with virtual information spaces and intelligent rooms.
