Clothing constitute a natural and accepted part of our daily lives. By embedding electronic components into textiles these can be enhanced to serve as interfaces.

Textile sensors can monitor both body properties and external stimulations.

Textile actuators can serve for example as optical or tactile displays.

With regard to e-Skin, of mayor interest are electrotactile, vibrotactile and thermal tactile display technologies. Further potential actuation technologies include air jet, ultrasound, magnetic and chemical stimulation.
